Today, we begin a new day to end 2020 and usher us into the new year. I, like many others believe that resolutions for the new year should be made (not on compulsion however.)

Soon, we would only be briefed by memories that graced last year. This is a direct representation of yesterday. The pages of yesterday cannot be revised... The revision comes in a class session before the examination. It's a total preview of work done to fix corrections. Any mistakes made in the last year can be corrected in the new. So we can boldly say: "Where I failed last year, I shall succeed this year because I've found correction". At the same time, the pages of tomorrow (the new year) shows a blank answer sheet where we have our pen in our hands. As students, we can only do nothing but write down everything we know of. I believe the Bible says: "Write the vision, make it plain, that they might run that read it." This is essence. Write! You hold the pen- The power of creativity lies in authority. The authority of an artist is his palette, a mechanic, his tools, a doctor, his skills... The pen's in your hand. Use it.

You should make it an inspiring story. The last of it is to make whatever is written to inspire. Anything that cannot give out life has no inspiration therein. The Bible says : "Out of thy belly shall flow rivers of living water". Let me paraphrase as "Out of your pen shall flow rivers of inspiring life" Thus, in the new year, write to inspiration.

It's definitely no one's duty to set an outline to help others in making resolutions for the new year. But then, it is necessary to have plans, directions and strategies. If for no reason, accept that you have to make the very best of the new year.

I'm sharing in the next few lines, you could find something inspiring to make your resolutions. These were actually handpicked from my numerous resolutions in past years which I have worked on successfully.

1. Devote more time to yourself

In the new year, decide to treat yourself as a god by devoting time to do things for yourself. You could read a book, run a blog, learn a skill, cut your nails, cook something new, prick out pimples and save yourself the daily inevitable stress. This should however not hinder your daily routine but should come in as chip ins.

2. Be positive

Positivity involves self appreciation and optimism. Believe that in the new year, you could be better than before.

3. Be more organised: Last year might be a successful mess if you access it. You can view the new year and work towards better ordination in things. We should be guided by principles of factual balancing in thoughts, a basis for public trust and confidence through proper organisation.

4. Be Self regulated

A believe that a system of self regulation helps in putting one in place. It's a form of personal scale upon which you are weighed- the state of being hot, cold or lukewarm.
Other resolutions you could work on include staying healthy, punctuality, growing self esteem and the endless list. Let it be known that 2020 should work for you as long as you adhere to the resolutions that would change you.

Have a blessed year.
